A carer is a person who provides unpaid help regularly to:
- a partner
- a child
- a relative
- a friend
- a neighbour who is frail
- someone who has a physical or mental health illness
- someone with a disability
- someone with substance misuse issues.
Does someone at home or in the neighbourhood depend on you to help with the tasks and/or responsibilities of everyday living? Perhaps you care for someone in the family or for a friend?
If so, you are carer and might like some support for yourself.
It is important that your doctor is aware of your role as a carer and we have a printable leaflet which can be completed and returned to us.
There are also free local sessions run by Positive Caring available which you can attend. You can find further information here.
